Reclaiming the CIO Seat: Rethinking SIS Selection in K-12 Education

Monday, September 8, at 4:00 PM ET | 1:00 PM PT

Roundtable Summary

The K-12 student information systems (SIS) market is undergoing a major transformation. Vendors are accelerating the shift away from on-premises legacy platforms toward modern, cloud-based SaaS solutions, which promise improved scalability, security, and user experience.

CIOs in K-12 Education need to ensure SIS decisions align with district-wide data, security, and integration strategies. However, decisions are too often made without IT consultation, leading to costly implementation challenges and misalignment with IT infrastructure, data governance, and long-term digital strategy.

Join fellow CIOs in K-12 for a roundtable on how to reassert IT leadership in SIS selection and modernization.

  • Benefit from an insightful discussion relevant to CIOs and senior IT leaders in K-12 Education who are navigating SIS procurement, cloud transitions, and digital modernization.
  • We’ll explore the organizational dynamics that often exclude CIOs from procurement decisions, share strategies for influencing cross-functional alignment, and review the current SIS vendor landscape, including how leading providers are positioning their SaaS offerings.
  • You’ll leave with peer insights on how to advocate for systems that serve the full district ecosystem, not just administrative convenience.
